How fast can a tailor make alterations?
The speed of alterations by a tailor can vary depending on the complexity of the work and the tailor's schedule. Simple alterations like hemming may take a few hours to a day, while more intricate adjustments like resizing a garment can take several days to a week. Blanca offers rush alterations, with a much faster turnaround time than other seamstresses in New York.
How fast can a wedding dress be altered?
The alteration time for a wedding dress depends on the complexity of adjustments needed. Simple alterations might take a few days, but more extensive modifications, such as resizing or intricate detailing, can take several weeks. That being said, a few high profile seamstresses such as Blanca, offer expedited alterations in case of emergencies.
For Bridal dresses/gowns, the timeframe we use is about 8-10 weeks before your wedding. This gives us enough time for all three of your fittings. Your 3rd/Final fitting usually is about 2 weeks out before your wedding.
For rush fittings, there will be a $300 fee.
How long does it take for a dress fitting?
A typical dress fitting session usually lasts between 30 minutes to an hour. This time frame allows the tailor or seamstress to assess the fit, mark any necessary alterations, and discuss changes with the client. Complex garments or multiple alterations may require longer or additional fitting sessions.
Can I get a quote before hand?
No. There are many factors that come with a final price for your alterations, with that being said, there is no way to give you an exact quote. We can give you an estimate but please take it as an estimate not final price.
We cannot give you a range/estimate on the phone or text based on pictures. We would need to see the garment on you, talk about what alterations you need and we have to see the amount of work needed. After all comes into consideration, we will give you a quote.
For Bridal dresses/Gowns the range will fall around $950-$1200.
How do you deal with wardrobe malfunction?

What is the difference between a tailor and a seamstress?
A tailor primarily alters clothing to fit better, often specializing in suits and men's wear, while a seamstress focuses on repairing or making clothes, typically with more emphasis on women's wear and detailed work like embroidery. Both possess unique skills in garment construction and modification.
